PIVOT TO REMOTE @ 29
Google Classroom + Zoom
Google Classroom will be our organizational hub for all resources in the event of any remote learning day(s). Any synchronous (live) video teaching will happen via Zoom - which you will also access via Google Classroom. Children will sign into their regular Google Classroom each morning to find materials shared by their teacher(s), any necessary Zoom links, lessons shared by specialty teachers and any invitations to meet with service providers (if your child is scheduled for services on that specific remote learning day).
Login Credentials
If you can't find your login credentials and need a new copy, please email Ms. Sperry at ssperry@ps29bk.org or your classroom teacher and they will re-share the message with you.
When you are signing into Google Classroom, be sure that you are not signed into other Google accounts. This is the most common cause of problems for families who are having trouble signing in. If your child is using a shared device for remote learning, your best bet is to either sign out of all Google accounts first, use an incognito window, or just use a different browser entirely.
Devices
All students should have access to a device in the event of snow days or other emergencies that force us to temporarily shift to remote learning. If your child does NOT have access to a reliable device at home and you would like to borrow one from the DOE, please let us know by emailing our Tech Coordinator, Ms. Sperry, at ssperry@ps29bk.org. We may be able to issue you a DOE iPad to use at home. Be sure to include your child’s full name and class number in your email.
Please keep in mind that these devices are completely "locked down" by the DOE and there is no access to the app store. Students are only able to use the limited apps that are already installed, which include Google Classroom, Safari/Chrome, and a few digital reading resources like Sora. Unfortunately, we do not have any school-level control over the apps on these devices - therefore we cannot add/remove apps ourselves.
Troubleshooting
Here are some resources to help you out if you are having trouble:

If you are still having trouble after reviewing the above materials, please contact either your classroom teacher, our parent coordinator (Janet) at jcavanagh@ps29bk.org, or Ms. Sperry, at ssperry@ps29bk.org - depending on the type of trouble you are having!
